  • What’s the difference between League and Grand Final winners?

    The men's men’s and women’s teams with the most cumulative points after the HSBC SVNS regular season finale in Singapore were crowned League Champions. These were won by Argentina and New Zealand respectively.

    The top eight placed teams from the regular season have earned their place in the new ‘winner takes all’ Grand Final, where the women’s and men’s SVNS Champions will be crowned in Madrid.

  • HOW DOES THE HSBC SEVENS CHALLENGER SERIES COME INTO PLAY?

    HSBC SVNS aligns and interfaces more directly with the next level of international rugby sevens, the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger series, which also involves 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams.

    The top four teams from the HSBC Sevens Challenger Series have qualified for the Grand Final weekend in Madrid, where they will face off against the bottom four teams from the 2024 HSBC Sevens Series in a promotion and relegation play-off, competing for a spot in the 2025 HSBC SVNS Series.

  • CAN TEAMS BE RELEGATED FROM HSBC SVNS?

    Yes, there could be as many as four new teams competing in HSBC SVNS 2025, or the line-up could remain exactly the same.

    The bottom four teams from the regular season of the 2024 HSBC SVNS Series and the top four teams from the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger 2024 competitions will compete in pools, followed by winner-takes-all play-off matches.

    The winners will secure their place in the 2025 HSBC SVNS series, while the four defeated teams will enter the qualification pathway for HSBC SVNS 2026 status, through the relevant regional championship and then through qualification to the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger 2025.

  • WHICH TEAMS WILL BE COMPETING FOR THE HSBC SVNS SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP?

    The top eight teams from the men's and women's regular season competition will contest for HSBC SVNS Series championship glory.

    Men: Argentina, Australia, Fiji, France, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa.

    Women: Australia, Canada, Fiji, France, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, USA.

    The bottom four teams from the HSBC SVNS regular season will play the top four sides from the Challenger Series to determine which quartet of teams earn HSBC SVNS Series status for the 2025 season.

    Women: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, China, Japan, Poland, South Africa, Spain.
